Selecting the heat pump is a big challenge for the project owner. On the market, there are many appliances that differ in the design, parameters and, of course, price. In the following, we present the aspects to note, when selecting a particular model.

Propane R290 - natural coolant
State-of-the-art heat pumps use a natural coolant not subject to the Ozone Layer Depleting Substances Act (the so-called F-gases). It is propane (R290), which is clearly the future fluid. It is used for example in refrigerators, while with time it will probably be the only fluid approved for heat pumps. It is distinguished by safety and low GWP of only 3. GWP is the global warming potential. The lower it is, the lesser the impact of the fluid. If you select a heat pump with propane R290 as coolant, no obligatory paid inspections provided for in the F-Gas Act is required. It or its installation is also not required to be registered in the Central Registers of Operators by an F-gas licensed specialist. Heat pumps with R290 are aligned with the European Commission zero- or low-emission strategy.

For comparison - another fluid frequently used in heat pumps, R410 has GWP of as much as 2088! If you purchase a heat pump with a fluid that will be banned in heat pump manufacture, then fluid refilling will become a big problem in future. In some EU countries, the fines for not having a valid F-gas inspection are already as high as EUR 10,000. Soon, an additional tax on F-gas group fluids can be imposed, as in Denmark. In addition, in case failure to report an appliance subject to CRO, the Ozone Layer Depleting Substances Act provides for a fine of PLN 15,000 for the owner of the appliance.
COP, SCOP
COP up to 4.2 for A2W35 SCOP = 3.3 and class A ++ for temperate climate
SAS VESTA heat pumps are characterised by some of the highest COP and SCOP values in its heat pump class (ON/OFF with the natural coolant R290). COP and SCOP values as per PN-EN 14511 and PN-EN 14825 have been confirmed by testing in independent laboratories.
Does the higher COP always translate into the higher heat pump efficiency? Not necessarily.
When comparing heat pumps, note in particular the COP and SCOP values. For the COP parameter, always check the A (outdoor air temperature) and W (feed temperature) values, fr which the manufacturer declares it. For example, some give the COP for parameters like A7W35 or even A10W35, which is not useful. For A7W35, the COP can be several percent higher than for A2W35. In case of SCOP, note the climate and working mode, for which the values are given. Only a comparison of the same conditions enables concluding, which appliance is more efficient. Otherwise, the project owner can mistakenly assume they selected the better, more efficient heat pump.

Complete to Install - all in standard
Our heat pump is sold in the CTI (Complete To Install) system. This means that the user receives a fully complete appliance, with components ready for installation, which translates into savings through the purchase of a single set, configured for operation. We do not artificially lower the price of appliance by forcing the purchases of additional equipment.
Additional costs of purchase of necessary components?
Check if heat pump you want to buy is complete. The project owner is often unaware that the appliance they buy is only seemingly inexpensive, while additional costs are to be expected. If the heat pump is not equipped with an upper source circulation pump or central heating water heating and domestic hot water or other necessary equipment in standard, hidden costs of PLN 3500 or more should be expected. Often even the controller turns out to be “an accessory”. Thus, before being tempted by an “opportunity”, it is worth checking if the appliance will be delivered ready to install, fully complete and configured.

Uncertain future for heat pumps of foreign manufacturers
Foreign heat pump manufacturers flood the Polish market with products that are withdrawn from the market or burdened with additional costs of use in other countries, due to the use of synthetic coolants with a GWP higher than 750. With time, such appliances will also become problematic in Poland due to new regulations, for example the Ozone Layer Depleting Substances Act or zero-emissions strategies implemented by the European Commission. And in case of cooling system leakage, it may turn out that the fluid used in the heat pump is very expensive or unavailable, so the appliance is only suitable for disposal.
